If you were in Katniss's position at the beginning of the story do you believe that you would volunteer to go as tribute instead of a family member knowing this could mean your life?
Yes because, being older and more experienced, you would have a greater chance of survival.
With the knowledge of the imminent death of all but one tribute, do you think Katniss should try to become good friends with Peeta or do you think they should stay out of each others lives.
I think they should try and work without each other until the end.
Do you think the districts deserve the games as punishment since the games were put in place only after the capitol quelled a district rebellion against the government?
No. People in the districts do not need to die for what their ancestors have done.
When the games start do you think Peeta and Katniss will work together or against each other?
No because Peeta wanted to work alone. Eventually, they might have to.
At the end of part one, Peeta essentially declared his love for Katniss. What do you think her reaction to this will be?
I feel that she will have a tough time killing him, and he will time killing her in the games.
Summary: (Steven Harvey) During the meeting today we discussed the five question listed above. The questions were about major topics within the first section of The Hunger Games. The first two questions are about the Inciting Incident that starts of the book. The main character, Katniss, would replace her sister in the deadly Hunger Games. The third question is about the history developed in the book. The twelve districts in the book are being punished for rebelling over 70+ years ago. The fourth question asked is about the Hunger games itself. Each "tribute" or selected person will have to fight for their lives in the games. Katniss needs to develop a strategy in order to survive. While question five makes the games very difficult for Katniss. At the end of section 1 Peeta, a local bread maker and fellow tribute, has declared his love for Katniss. During the second half of the meeting we discussed our predictions of what will happen in the rest of the book. Each one of us has predicted some sort of intense action during the games. We also discussed who has enjoyed the book so far and everyone has so far. We have also planned the meeting for the 16th. We will be reading up to page 250. We are hoping that the book stays as interesting as the first part.
